Your portfolio positions provide a snapshot of all the cryptocurrencies you currently hold. As you are trading you can buy and sell the same currency at different times, so you may buy the same currency in different amounts at different prices. A position summarises all the buys you have made in this currency, to give you the average buy price and return on investment specific to this currency.
If we take the sum all the position profit and losses for all the currencies in your portfolio, then this is the total current position profit/loss of your account.
The dashboard shows the total in terms of your selected display currency, and the percentage relative to your total portfolio value.
